Great iPhone downloads…but wait…. there’s something wrong!

February 29th, 2012 by admin

What problem do these  high end fashion sites have in common?

Go on… take a peek and see if you can work it out? (just click on the images)

SWAROVSKI CRYSTALLIZED Jewelry

FASHION FOR HOME

No?

Gorgeous products that are too expensive for our budget?

High end fashion that is too high for the ordinary guy or gal?

Somethings we all drool over but cannot buy?

hmmm … Getting warmer!!

But Nope!

What they have in common - is a serious and regrettable - problem.

Have you worked it out? C’mon, don’t cheat - go take a look (and anyway these sites do have gorgeous stuff)

Worked it out?

Well if you saw anything you wanted to buy you would quickly find out what the problem is…

And that is that we cannot buy any of these products easily by iPhone!!

Of sure, we can use our credit card - but there is no real advantage in that - we can do that from our laptop.

Why hasn’t  AT&T, T-Mobile,  BT, etc setup an iphone-based payment system where we can charge our purchases to our phone bill? Millions of people in India do just that!

Ever since the iphone was launched I have been waiting for this to be setup. What is the hold up guys?

(But see the news about the new Cisco deal with 7 carriers aimed at allowing iPhones to switch easily, securely and automatically between cellular and WiFi networks - that’s something, I s’pose. )

The Smart Way To Use Your New iPhone

December 27th, 2011 by admin

Hmmm - I have a friend who is hoping to get into management consulting with one of the big three companies that do this (no need to mention them here).

But the thing is, in the work up to get attention from these big-time companies, he has been reading and researching what he needs to do.  He has discovered that one of the ways to impress them is to have a good GMAT score.

So I have been researching this and have found this super site that helps get people prepared - and as always, wanna share here as well.

Check it out or tell whoever you know that might find this helpful. Whether its the GMAT, MCAT, PCAT or whatever CAT!! Its got that covered for you.

What I like about it is that it is iPhone and iPad friendly.

See link in side bar as the team here were so impressed we decided to put in a site wide link to the site ->

The Ultimate Tribute for Steve Jobs!

December 21st, 2011 by admin

In a tribute based in both gratitude and admiration Hungarian businessman Gabor Bojar has just unveiled a bronze  statue made as a tribute to Steve Jobs.  This is a way of honoring someone that is more suited to the old world - where statuary is a well established way to remember people that are highly esteemed.

It is less likely that we will see this type of tribute in the US -maybe a modern abstract painting? Or a building or bridge (or few)  named  after him?

However, as you Google for pictures or even videos of the statue you will likely come up fairly empty handed! One video of the unveiling shows ONLY the covered statue. It appears that the unveiling is a money earning event with images and videos available only for a price! Techcrunch, for example, have only managed to get a pic of the lower part of the statue!

The above video is great background to the statue -  and for a good pic of the finished statue, check out this Yahoo News link.

Steve Jobs Retires

Love him or hate him there is no denying that Steve Jobs is an important iconic figure in the high tech world of consumer gadgets. And with his delivery of every important new innovation from Apple in recent years, he  may well have one of the best known faces around the planet. The newspapers are going wild with the honors they are heaping on this amazing personality. We thought we would like to bring those honorariums - as they are printed - to our readers:

Apologies to all iPhonegizmo FANS and check out this freebie!

August 16th, 2011 by admin

The iphonegizmo team apologizes for the lengthy “holiday” we were forced to take over the last three weeks. This is the first time since its inception four years ago that our site has ever been “off the air” for any reason. So you could say the holiday was overdue!

Air Playit - Streaming Video to iPhone

However, it was an unplanned holiday- so we missed out on all the fun of looking forward to it!

We are now back and atem  - and will be doing our usual posts about hot new iPhone download freebies for you.

To kick the show off, we recommend you take a look at this great deal - a super easy way to get movies onto your iphone to watch - for free!! (Of course)

You will need to download the free Air Playit App from iTunes and also need to download the “cloud-based” Air Playit server to your desktop (works with both PCs and Macs. Then, wherever you are - if you can access wifi,  you can down load a movie from your PC/Mac to your iPhone and watch it at your leisure!

e:A couple of helpful pointers for you so that you get this great free movie downloader with ease.

1) TheAir Playit  site is quite busy. Take a look at the image below to see where to go to download the server software you need:

free movie downloader

2) Either follow our link to the app -or make sure you spell it right in iTunes - its “Air Playit”. iTunes has gotten sloppier as its gotten bigger and if you type in, for example,  “Airplayit”, you will be served up everything BUT the app you want!

3) Follow the directions given on the site in their User Guide

Note: we found we had to disable the firewall for the connection between the local server and the iPhone to work.

Oh, BTW - Air Playit does not support media files purchased from iTunes  (and so are protected by DRM). Apparently,  the next version will support DRM protected videos.

Enjoy!

Easy Photo and Movie Share from Cool New iPhone App

July 3rd, 2011 by admin

Perhaps the most popular area for non-game apps is the photo and/or movie apps that have been developed for iPhone users. There are so many apps that it is tempting to ignore recently developed apps. And generally we do!

But this app was recently drawn to our attention by several readers and we reckon that it is worth doing a post about it (and we rarely do a post on an app that has to be purchased (even for .99cents!) as our claim-to-fame is that we provide our readers with ways to get legal free downloads of one sort or another - see sidebar).

The app is Pro-Share and here is what they have to say about it:

With Pro-Share it’s a snap to capture cherished moments with your iPhone and share them with friends and family. In just a few short clicks you can post photos and videos to your favorite social network, including Facebook, Flickr, Twitter, Picasa and YouTube.

They have made a really nice youtube video to promote the app and show what it can do - so check it out:
