Another iPhone App thats an Oops?

October 27th, 2009 by admin

http://www.iapper.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/09/d9aef58242100-75.jpg.jpgBack in May we reported on the iReshet App that had been showcased at the Apple Worldwide Developers Conference that enabled us to watch live TV (from Tel Aviv).  That was supposed to be released in a “few weeks”.  We kept tabs, but eventually lost interest as time went by - and no App. Well the  iReshet App did finally make its appearance in the iTunes store -  on September 29 (cost .99c)!

http://www.iphonegizmo.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/08/ireshet-livestreamingtoiphone2.jpgDespite the iTunes write up being in English, the backup website is in Hebrew and don’t even get us started on the iReshet “support” site! The link sends us to Applicaster - and if you can be bothered to wait through the long (and weird) site load, you will then be completely bamboozled as to why the heck you have been sent there!!

Latest iPhone Oops is the recently “released” David Guetta App supposedly released on October 16th. Here is the official YouTube runthrough for the App

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r2K0qMjuNYM

(congrats if you make it through the whole 4 mins). News portals such as Reuters and VPO Press release, reported:

the hit-making DJ and music producer, today announced the US launch of his first interactive album app on the iPhone. ….the app marks the first time music fans will be able to interact closely with a major artist on iPhones and iPods by sharing remixed music and connecting with Guetta and other fans in real-time

However, yet again - it is nowhere to be found! BTW - here is the  iTunes link, for those who actually got excited by the YouTube promo (the iPhonegizmo team were underwhelmed)

Latest Free iPhone Music On Offer

October 24th, 2009 by admin

The iPhonegizmo team are all fans of the Mashable site. So we figure its about time we shared one of their cool features with you - ten free MP3s from around the web, every Monday in their Free Music Monday selection.

Each week the focus is on a particular music genre - so you may not be interested in all of the music on offer. The last selection was for  “live” footage, so all the links were to actual artist performances - rather than the usual links to free MP3s - for example:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ICJUFOJa2g

The previous “Free Music Monday” had a rock and pop-genre as its theme - with links to ten free MP3s provided.

Fortunately Mashable has also provided  us with an iPhone App (free, of course) - so we can easily get updates on the free Music Monday offers.

As always, remember to share our free music links with all your friends.

An Cool iPhone App in Germination?

October 22nd, 2009 by admin

Developing a successful iPhone App can mean big $$. So its no surprise that new Apps are released every day with thousands in the system awaiting approval.

http://www.theresgonnabesnacks.com/images/iphone-app-imade.jpg

A small charge of .99 cents can mean a $million payoff, if the App takes off and a million iPhone users make the small payout to get it. Its a pretty good model - for those that succeed! Take the game Flight Control by Aussie developers, Firemint.

Rob Murray, head of Melbourne game developer Firemint and the company's smash iPhone App hit, Flight Control.

This was an unexpected hit game that took just three weeks and $50K to develop but - as of this month has sold over 1.5 million units worldwide in 6 months - and has propelled Firemint from the status of back yardies to fully fledged and dedicated iPhone App developers!

But there are plenty of Apps that don’ make it ( research into the top iPhone App flops is in the works and will be published soon!)

This weekend there is a “Mobile Application Development  Event” where some pretty smart brains are getting together to:

‘design and build an iPhone application in a day with the help of several talented and skilled designers and developers who will work together to build the application.

Can it be done? Will the app be of any use to the every day iPhone user?  Will we something of pure genius being built? Will these iPhone developer geeks come up with an app that makes all other apps look useless?

We will keep you posted folks - because we are hoping this event will  show that a useful app can be built fast and cheap.

Top iPhone Twitter Apps To DeGeneres by!

October 19th, 2009 by admin

Se we were greeted today with the enticing twit from The Ellen Show:

Attention followers: We’re planning the biggest giveaway in the history of Twitter. Get your friends to follow me NOW & stay tuned.

As exciting as that is, it begs several questions for iPhone owners:  do you have an iPhone twitter app? Is it enough to have just one twitter app? and anyhoo, which Twitter apps are the best ones to have?

iPhone Twitter AppWell you’d think that Twitter itself would have something to say about this. But… actually, not a lot on offer there. Their last offering was back in March - on exectweets - a free app that lets us find and follow top business executives on Twitter (which has only managed a 2.5 star rating from users) and there were only another couple of  iPhone Twitter Apps reviewed back in 2008. So Twitter has not offered much to help us select an iPhone Twitter App.

But not to worry, because we do get advice from some of the tech industry heavies:

Gizmodo, for example, has waxed lyrical about the latest Twitter App, released over the weekend:

Tweetie 2 is so far ahead of every other iPhone Twitter app, it’s astounding. It’s the most polished Twitter app yet, oozing slickness with every swipe.

And they are pretty emphatic that its worth the 3 bucks we will have to pay for it, even if we already have Tweetie!

Scoble, has a somewhat different take on the whole iPhone Twitter app issue. Take a look at his selection of Apps, and you will see what we mean:

Scoble uses several Twitter Apps! His selection includes:  TweetDeck (free); Twitterrific Premium ($3.99); Twitterfon (free); Twittelator (4.99); and Tweetie 2 ($2.99). But, then, he is a media persona grata. So he’s gonna need a lot of help staying on top of all the gossip and current events! But he is also a fan of the new Tweetie 2 App, saying:

I’ve been using it a week and it already has become my favorite Twitter app on the iPhone.

He also has some scathing things to say about those who b#tch about paying 3 bucks for an App! His review is definitely worth a read.

Back to The Ellen  Show. Now that we have got you set up with a Twitter App,  we recommend that you follow the shows’ Twitter,  and see what goodies are gonna be up for grabs!

PS: If you share/buy an App by clicking through from the  above AppsFire Widget, the proceeds will all be donated to charity for all of  October 2009.

Free iPhone Wallpapers Your Kids Will Love!

October 11th, 2009 by admin

Carol iPhone Wallpaper

So, as we have come to expect from Disney, Warner Bros etc - whenever a kids movies comes out, along comes a new iPhone App with all the usual freebies. We tend to only do a post on those we think are super cute, or have great graphics.

The team here at iPhonegizmo reckon the  soon-to-be-released movie Where The Wild Things Are, also has super cute graphics.

What’s more the Wild Thing App has a bit more than just the usual wallpaper (eg, left), trailers and clips from the film, clips of the  movie’s soundtrack and official movie posters. There is some fun animation of Carol - who the kids can have a dirt fight with, watch dance or eat “your photos and contacts”!

For good measure, Warner Bros also have a contest for the kids. All they have to do is sign up as a member! And, there is a sweepstake for the chance to win a wolf costume (cool Christmas presso)

Movie is due out on October 16th, 2009.

New Photoshop iPhone App Download

October 9th, 2009 by admin

As our regular readers know, we love a good free iPhone App to download! This App was released only yesterday, so is hot off the press!

All we need to do is set up a free photoshop.com account and we can  upload and store 2GB of photos online - no need to use any of our iPhone storage space.

The  App allows us to do quick and easy edits with the touch of our fingers - crop, rotate, flip, color effects and a wide range of other  fun/interesting/artistic effects.

We can also - of course - upload photos we take with our iPhone camera!

But - most important - we can share photos from where ever we are!

So - take a pic with iPhone camera, upload to mobile photoshop, finger edit on our iPhone,  send to friend!

“Hey, I just had brekky at …”

We are still playing with the App - maybe a creative competition will be the outcome?

We’ll keep you posted
