Apple has just uploaded half a dozen of its recent iPhone4 ads to its YouTube channel. And they are real heart tug-ers! Check out this one, for example (and tell us you didn’t get a lump in your throat):

But when you see ads like the next one, ya gotta figure that Apple have a verrry different audience in mind:
Which one grabs your interest and makes you want to go out and buy it?
There is a good reason why Apple dominates the market. They are great at EVERYTHING!
Don’t get me wrong - I love the Zune ad - its artsy and funny - its just not built to funnel potential buyers to the Zune store!!Unlike the Apple marketing machine which is (as we have said before) sheer genius.

Every year at this time we like to post the best Halloween wallpapers on offer for iPhones. This year we decided to begin our search in iTunes. And were shocked to discover that the latest offerings were just as spammy and and the sites just as risky as we had found in the past with sites that had not been (supposedly) vetted through the Apple selection process.
So our selection of great Halloween wallpapers will also save you the trouble of visiting bad sites! First up is a selection of some 30 wallpapers that have been uploaded to Flickr - so you know that getting them is going to be risk free. There are some great selections here as well (see above pic for a sample - though we did like the apple icon-as-pumpkin as well!).
There are three free Halloween wallpapers for iPhone on the Indenzer site (see right side pic). We quite liked these wallpapers. They are also available for iPad.
The third site only has a couple and is really for for all the Angry Bird fans out there. They have a fun take on the Halloween theme. The site offers the wallpapers for iPad as well. We loved these so had to include them.
Most of the others we found were either not very good or from suss sites. But we invite you to check out the free Halloween the wallpapers for iPhone listed in previously as they are still on offer, and we think, have some great wallpapers.
Finally, because these wallpapers are not available in iTunes, some readers may not be sure how to put those images on their iPhones as wallpapers. We have done a post in the past in this and you can get the easy-to-follow directions there.

For anyone who is passionate about music and has long wanted to learn how to play an instrument - but been put off by the trouble and expense - these links will be totally gold! Or perhaps you are a parent (or uncle, or aunt etc) of a kid who is musically tallented and who wants to learn how to play the drums?
Then this is your lucky read! Because we have found these fantastic sites - one for kids and one for adults - that provide free drum playing video lessons.
The first link is to 60 video drum lessons from Little Kids Rock. All download easily to our iPhones. To get an idea of what these are like, just watch the following video:
For some additional goodies, there are four free iPhone wallpapers, free drum posters, free simulated drum kit for play-along fun, and a build-a-beat game that we all (the iphonegizmo team) found to be super fun. All are available on the Little Kids Rock website. You don’t have to be a kid to learn from these lessons and you might just decide that this is a more fun way to begin learning to play the drums than the adult site we show you below!
For the free drum lessons for adults, we found a site that provides a massiv 148 free video drum lessons. These lessons are in easy bite-size chunks that range from 1 to 8.5 mins in length. We recommend that you download them to your iPhone as you progress - so you only have, say, a half a dozen lessons on your iPhone at any one time. More details are available on the website - or you can watch the video below for a good intro to the excellent free lessons that are provided there.
It doesn’t get much better than this for free iPhone downloads with super value. Check these links out - or, using the share button below - send this post to any friends you know have long wanted to learn how to play the drums!!

Most people get one of two things from iTunes - music or apps. Despite the amazing expanse of knowledge on offer for free - getting downloads from iTunesU is not so nearly popular.
But the iPhonegizmo team think this is an amazing resource and we want to bring it to our readers attention. For example, there are lectures on a very wide range of topics - from the truly brainy stuff that few of us will ever understand (quantum mechanics and the lectures from real mathematical brainiacs, a-la-Numb3rs ).
But there is also a heap of information on really useful and/or interesting topics.
Take for example the whole issue of sex and smells. Did you know that less than10 years ago some scientist were still categorically denying that humans could be affected by pheromones (ie smells)? And now? Well, you would not believe what the researchers are saying about how important these smells are to sex, performance, mate choice, faithfulness etc! Well, in iTunes you can get the latest info on this hot topic in the free lectures for download by Catherine Dulac from Harvard University (latest update was June 29 2010). And if that talk excites you - you really should check out this book on the subject.
Interested in dieting and nutrition? How would you like 30 FREE videos to watch on your iPhone - by experts on the subject? Because that’s what UCTV (Uni of California) have provided via iTunesU.
Just want to be entertained? Ok - just use the “power Search” to find the entertainment that appeals. Dozens of podcasts (video and audio) of music and about music, comedy, drama etc of varying genre!
So - go check iTunesU out and see just what you have been missing!

We have done a few posts recently about some great new free media Apps for our iPhone - including video and audio apps.
In this post we introduce this just-released free App that allows us to quickly and easily post pics from our iPhone to Twitter - called, appropriately enough, Twitpic.All that we need to do is:
“1. select an image or take a picture
2. upload to twitpic
3. enter twitter message”
Three taps - done! Get it!

To celebrate the Comic Con event, the iPhonegizmo team went looking for free comic downloads for iPhones. We revisited a previous post about free comics for iPhone download and got a great lead for 35 more free comics - some as big as 35 pages!
These freebies are available from Comixology - a site that has specialized in providing comics for delivery on our iphones. Some of the comics that are included on the 35-for-freebie list are: Superman, Batman Black and White, Wanted, and Box 13 plus another 31 free comics are up for grabs.
There are several Free iPhone apps for Marvel, DC Comics, and quite a few others. Marvel offer a half dozen free comics but have not really put much effort into optimizing them for the iPhone platform. At least the one we downloaded (Ultimate Ironman II) whilst beautifully illustrated was not easy to read on the iPhone, with 
repeated - slow loading - need for us to switch from the vertical to the horizontal screen and no apparent effort to make the words legible!
In complete contrast, the free DC Comic downloads were excellent. There were more than a dozen and they were very easy to read on the iPhone.
So guys - if you are a comic fan - go check out the free comic apps and grab yourself some free comic downloads.

We are impressed with this free App from dw-c, that turns our iPhone into a video camera. It takes a maximum of 15 sec of video - but for most purposes that is enough as it means we can do a quick shot and then “share” to our facebook, Twitter, YouTube or (as we did) by email.
For bloggers out there, we sent this to our (again free) PixelPipe account which then posted it (below) to the iPhonegizmo blog (but we could have sent it to Facebook, Twitter or a whole host of other destinations so don’t feel you can’t sign up just because you don’t blog!) . Could not have been easier! And all free.
The clip is an excerpt from the YouTube video: “Funny hippo dance remix” Oh, and iCamcorder can be used on an iPhone 2g or 3g. We just aimed the iPhone at the computer screen and hit record! Pretty good - which means that we can also send interesting snippets to our friends of any videos we see while we are surfing the web. Go check it out.
