iPhone Unlock The Easy Way

January 18th, 2009 by admin

We have done several posts about this issue now, and referred readers to the top free software that has been developed to unlock iPhones. The free software is excellent -but not everyone feels technically savvy enough to use it. So we promised to test some of the commercial iPhone-unlock products and report back.

Well the holiday season got in the way, so we have taken a bit longer than planned to do this. But, we have finally completed this self appointed task and have our first offering.

But first, lets quickly review some of the main benefits of unlocking our iPhones:

iphone-spot.jpgEnables us to use free media & great free downloads not available in iTunes - or only at a price! (many of these great free download are featured elsewhere on this blog - see egs here and here)

iphone-spot.jpgCan use any SIM card worldwide. Can use any contract or even use prepaid Install VoIP software for free long distance calls! AND - as a quick look at eBay will show - can raise our iPhone’s value by $200!

There are several iPhone unlock software options to choose from. We liked this software because it provides plenty of easy-to-follow FAQs on how this software works! And because the software works with “one click”

You can get more details about the software from unlock-the-iphone.com

Major New Products for iPhones Announced at MacWorld 2009

January 6th, 2009 by admin

OK, this year’s Macworld ain’t gonna have the hype of the last two years, lets face it! And with Jobs not even there to stoke the hype, it threatens to be a bit ho hum - at least for iPhones.

But there are two “major” new iPhone products worth mentioning here. Firstly:

The image “http://tooble.tv/images/logo.jpg” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.spacer.jpgTooble for iPhone

Here is new software that enables users to put any YouTube video onto their iPhone, automatically!

Based on the success of the Tooble for Mac, this new application of Tooble for iPhone is likely to also be a big hit. And the story behind Tooble is another one of those “young geeks make it big” stories. After all we Mac lovers do love products based on great designs or great ideas!

Check out these stats that Tooble.tv give, just 60 days after the 2008 Macworld release of Tooble for Mac:

Only sixty days after tooble’s debut, we’ve hit our hundred thousandth download! As you may guess this exceeds anything any of us expected, but we’re proud to announce tooble’s success and we’d like to thank all of the users who supported us, gave tooble a try, or came out to see us at MacWorld; you guys are great and we’re going to make some great software for you.

Daylite Touch
Secondly, the DayliteTouch will be on display at Macworld.

It won’t unfortunately get launched at MacWorld, and the launch is still listed as “early 2009″ with the rider bt the Daylite Touch team that:

We will be able to give you a more meaningful date range after Macworld.

But this is looking to be a significant new iPhone product for business users and definitely worth a mention. It uses Daylite’s new synchronization technology to keep all aspects of a business (and its data) accessible “anywhere and everywhere”. The objective being to:

keep your critical business data always synced anywhere you go.

Other “new” listings:

Note that both mDialog (a video platform that enables users to upload and deliver high res video to iPhones) and fone2phone (a utility that will copy all your data from an ordinary cell phone to an iPhone) are also listed as new iPhone products. BUT they have, in fact, been around for some time and so not really worthy of being listed as a “major new” iPhone product - despite their being billed that way on Macworld 2009 site.

Vlingo - The Latest Hot Free iPhone Download

December 13th, 2008 by admin

Apple has targeted the business market with great success! (OK the new Blackberry won’t be a storm in a teacup (ha ha)), but that aside - there have been some fantastic business apps released over the last couple of months.

Now there is no point in re-inventing the wheel - so if you want to know which ones are hot-to-trot and the best of the lot, then check out the reviews from thewojogroup and Macworld.

Get vlingo for iPhone.spacer.jpgBecause it has just been released - and so is not mentioned in the above reviews - we wanted to tell you about vlingo. This is one super cool app - and its free.

“Look Ma, no hands” - Vlingo technology allows us to do a whole stack of ordinary tasks through voice instruction rather than by hand! To quote them, Vlingo…

allows users to speak into their device and have many popular applications carry out their respective functions. This includes dialing your phone, sending an email or SMS, creating and saving a memo or task, opening a web browser and performing a web search, composing a social-networking status message and more.spacer.jpg

Pretty cool - in fact, the iPhone team have voted this the best free iPhone app to come out in the last month!

Want to see why? Check out how it works in the following video:

How Smart Are iPhone Business Users?

November 7th, 2008 by admin

A key marketing study released yesterday - that surveyed business customer satisfaction with wireless smartphones - turned up some surprising results. Apple, it turns out, is now outshining the Blackberry!

The study assessed satisfaction by asking users to rate their Smartphone on five criterion: ease of operation; operating system; physical design; handset features, and; battery aspects. And, with the exception of the “battery aspect”, iPhone topped the polls in overall satisfaction score:

Press Release Figure

According to the report, smartphone users are a special group of users that seek, among other things:

  • Internet capability (45%), ability to use e-mail account (41%), overall design/style (39%), Bluetooth capabilities (37%) and keyboard style (e.g., QWERTY) (37%)
  • third-party software (34%). Popular software downloads among business users include games (49%), business applications such as Microsoft Word and Excel (43%) and travel-related programs (36%).
  • spacer1.jpgFrankly, we at iPhonegizmo would also like to have seen the survey check out how smart smartphone users are? Because if they get their software, only (or even mainly) from the Apple store, then we would suggest that they are not that smart at all.

Because, as regular readers of this blog know, there are plenty of superb free - or nearly free - alternatives to the Apple shop for these type of iPhone downloads.
