I just got sent this cool site about free iphone downloads.Personally I really liked this site.

It’s got a bunch of movies, music, tv shows, etc.

Check it out and see what you think.

But, because we (or they) may not always want to be “seen” we can always choose to keep them “in the dark” by not reporting where we are!!

According to the folks at Buddy Beacon:

Buddy Beacon uses the GPS in your phone to pinpoint your location. You can let your friends know what you’re doing at that location (i.e. working, eating, sleeping, etc.) or you can pick a place that’s close to you to set as your location. You can also view your location on a map to see where your friends are in relation to you or view your Buddy List to check the location of a specific friend. By blocking your friends, they won’t be able to see your location until you unblock them. Don’t worry, Buddy Beacon won’t automatically update your location, unless you tell it to.

With Buddy Beacon on the iPhone, we can also ‘Nudge’ our buddies to get them to update their location.

We can also use Buddy Beacon through Facebook which allows us to connect with our non-iPhone buddies easily.

Now, not all software developers are impressed with Apple SDK deal (where software developers have get Apple approval for their iPhone applications). So they just go right ahead develop their neat apps and find other - often free - ways to get them to us.

Snapture is an example. This is a major upgrade for iPhone users who want to get some decent results with their iPhone camera - and did we mention, its absolutely free! With this app we can now: zoom in to get the perfect shot; take up to three rapid frame shots; vary the size of the photo; use time delay to take shots of ourselves with our friends … and more

As you can see these are a big and exciting improvement on the type of game that is going to be available for iPhone. To quote Simon Jeffery from Sega “this is not a cell phone game this is a full console game”

Both games use the iPhone’s accelerometer to move the hero around -which looks to give it a Wii type of experience. The touch facility is also incorporated in Spore to build the characters form and hunting/defensive capabilities.

Sega and EA have been the ground breakers but other companies are bound to get excited now that they can see what can be achieved.

BTW, at the SDK event more than just exciting new games were revealed. Although most of what went on is of little direct interest to iPhone users it definitely will have a big impact on us in the near future. Apple has now put out a beta version of an iPhone SDK, or software development kit, which will allow, finally, third-party programmers to create applications for the iPhone.

So What??

In June the new software will be made available for all iPhones for free.

That means, for example - that Firefox - if they develop suitable software and if Apple approves it - will be available for iPhone. And some punters have predicted perhaps Skype (?? though iPhonegizmo will go on record as being doubtful about that!!). We will keep you posted on what goodies get made available (especially the free stuff!)

Well, his iPhone can do this.

This is not a hack you can download, I’m afraid. but if you have an old digital camera you want to pull apart, then here is where you can go to find out how to “convert” your iPhone camera so it has a macro lens.

If you do it right, and follow the technical details you will end up with something that looks like this:

1) Hunt around the internet for sites that have some (usually only a few) iphone games that they provide for free. iPhonegizmo liked the range of games offered by mynumo.com. These include carmadillo mentioned in a previous post and a dozen other games

We also liked digiwidge.com - even though they only offer a few games they have excellent graphics and are a bit different

2) Hunt around the internet for sites that sell iPhone games (these can be hard to find). By far the best site we found is igiki.com.

These cost $2.99 a game which gives you access to a game for varying time periods (maximum of 180 days). That may well be enough time for you to get sick of the game, anyway!

3) Use subscription sites where you pay a fee and then can download a large selection of games. There are a range of sites that offer different subscription options. iPhonegizmo recommends the pay-once-to-join option as this works out to be the

cheapest membership option (and also works out cheaper than buying one game at a time).
The best site membership site iPhonegizmo found was iphone-magic. This site offers over a hundred iPhone games which works out at around .40 cents a game - BUT you then can also download all the music, TV shows and movies you want - essentially for free (after all you joined for the iPhone games, right?) There are some more serious games on offer here including iphone poker!

But, be warned - iPhone games can be addictive!
