Free iPhone App that helps us find missing kids.

http://mms.businesswire.com/bwapps/mediaserver/ViewMedia?mgid=172325&vid=5spacer.jpgI remember one time when I was a kid sitting in the movie theater when suddenly all the young guys in the theater began leaving in the middle of the show (I don’t know how many but more than a dozen, by memory). All the younger kids were mystified, but then the guys all returned about an hour later.

It turned out that the word had come down that a young woman was snatched off a nearby street corner. Well, those guys had gone straight out and chased that car down in their various bombs and bikes – and got the girl back! And, thanks to their fast action, she was OK.

Getting the info out there FAST helps get results. So we thought the recent free App by NIC was pretty cool. This App provides constantly updated information from the FBI site about missing children (and also, if we want it to, most wanted criminals and terrorists – but hey, how likely are we to be able to help with those?) The initial popularity suggests that many other iPhone users also thought this was a great App, as:

the application averaged 5,000 downloads per day and has broken the top 10 in iTunes’ Free Utility applications in its first three days of availability.

But we notice that the App is not listed in the top ten or even top 100 Apps anymore (two weeks later) so decided to do a blog post to publicize it some more. Because folks, this App can seriously help get kids found! Check it out!
