Do you have it? France 24 – the first international news channel to broadcast live for free on the iPhone – has been downloaded, worldwide, 600,000 times.

Now whilst that might signal that it is a popular App, that’s nothing compared to game Apps. So chances are, dear iPhonegizmo fan, that you have NOT downloaded this app – and maybe NOT even heard of it!

So, to fill you in:

Last Friday, France 24 was named winner of the ‘Most Innovative Technology’ category at the Association for International Broadcasting (AIB) Media Excellence”

The App has also been given an average of a 3 1/2 star rating by users with over 1/3 of raters (over 900 of them) giving it a massive 5 start rating!

The App is free, as well. The only drawback is that there may be carrier data charges – so check that out! Some users set their iPhone to airplane mode to avoid these charges. That means they are accessing free WiFi. (If you don’t set your iPhone to airplane mode then, even though you think you are using free WiFi, it will still auto select the best quality band width – meaning, often,  your paid service.)
