Top iPhone Twitter Apps To DeGeneres by!

19 Oct

Se we were greeted today with the enticing twit from The Ellen Show:

Attention followers: We’re planning the biggest giveaway in the history of Twitter. Get your friends to follow me NOW & stay tuned.

As exciting as that is, it begs several questions for iPhone owners:  do you have an iPhone twitter app? Is it enough to have just one twitter app? and anyhoo, which Twitter apps are the best ones to have?

iPhone Twitter AppWell you’d think that Twitter itself would have something to say about this. But… actually, not a lot on offer there. Their last offering was back in March – on exectweets – a free app that lets us find and follow top business executives on Twitter (which has only managed a 2.5 star rating from users) and there were only another couple of  iPhone Twitter Apps reviewed back in 2008. So Twitter has not offered much to help us select an iPhone Twitter App.

But not to worry, because we do get advice from some of the tech industry heavies:

Gizmodo, for example, has waxed lyrical about the latest Twitter App, released over the weekend:

Tweetie 2 is so far ahead of every other iPhone Twitter app, it’s astounding. It’s the most polished Twitter app yet, oozing slickness with every swipe.

And they are pretty emphatic that its worth the 3 bucks we will have to pay for it, even if we already have Tweetie!

Scoble, has a somewhat different take on the whole iPhone Twitter app issue. Take a look at his selection of Apps, and you will see what we mean:

Scoble uses several Twitter Apps! His selection includes:  TweetDeck (free); Twitterrific Premium ($3.99); Twitterfon (free); Twittelator (4.99); and Tweetie 2 ($2.99). But, then, he is a media persona grata. So he’s gonna need a lot of help staying on top of all the gossip and current events! But he is also a fan of the new Tweetie 2 App, saying:

I’ve been using it a week and it already has become my favorite Twitter app on the iPhone.

He also has some scathing things to say about those who b#tch about paying 3 bucks for an App! His review is definitely worth a read.
