Amazon App Released as iBook excludes iPhones

At the iPad event in January, Steve Jobs said of Amazon:

Amazon’s done a great job of pioneering this functionality with the Kindle…We’re going to stand on their shoulders and go a little further.

The irony is that the Amazon Kindle App for iPads has just been released – even as the new iBook store has been launched.  The Kindle app has already been available for iPhones – with over 73,000 reviews in iTunes (meaning a LOT of people have downloaded this free app).

The greater irony is that the Amazon book store can be accessed by iPhones – but the iBook store cannnot!!

The Kindle iPad app means that in addition to the 60,000 price tagged books and the 30,000 freebies, iPad owners can access the Amazon library of some 450,000 titles!!

The only downside for iPad readers is that the Amazon titles cannot be purchased from withing the app (Apple apparently did not want to make it too easy for us to buy elsewhere)

And if you are wanting to take a look at the ibooks store and just can’t find it (who knows why they hid it in apps> books> ibooks. ?)  But that is where it is. Or you can follow our link.
